Yes and no. Global warming is a fact but the cause is in dispute. Liberals are using it to push their extreme environmental agenda.

Please read the recent issue of Scientific American. If that doesn't convince you that global warming is 100% real and almost certainly caused by human actions, then I don't really know what will. There is absolutely no doubt that global warming exists in the scientific literature. In addition, there is NO dissention (not even from Bush appointed scientists) about the cause being anthropogenic (man-made). The fact of the matter is that climate change is real and is caused by human action.

The UN Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change used more than 3,000 scientists to write their most recent report. These were all vetted by governments that are members (this includes scientists appointed by the Bush administration). The job of these scientists was not to do their own research, but instead to write a complete report compiling all that is definately known about climate change. This means that they looked at all the evidence that has ever been published and found that it is incontrovertible that global warming exists and it is more than 90% likely (unbelievable for such a scientific report) that humans significantly contribute to it. Let me put it this way: if 3,000 doctors (with NO scientist dissenting or questioning the findings) told you that you had a medical condition that was probably caused by your own actions, would you change actions or call it a liberal hoax?

The only way to know for sure would to be go back to college and become a climatologist. Since most of us don't have the time or inclination to do that, we have to rely on others to break it down into an understandable way.

I don't think it's a hoax. And I'm a Republican.

But I also feel like I can't trust either side because it's become such a political issue. It really needs to be a scientific issue instead. Try to forget about Al Gore and look at it dispassionately. There are a few truly scientific sources to learn about it, unfortunately the very vocabulary of these specialists is above our heads.

My hope is that all this interest in the topic brings about more resources to educate ourselves about the topic in a nonpartisan way.

No, global warming has absolutely nothing to do with liberals or political affiliation. Global warming is a scientific issue. Please peruse the links below to learn about the science behind global warming. It's real and humans are the primary cause of the current global warming.

Several volcanoes in this century have each put out more pollutants than all of mankind throughout history. Man cannot affect the weather There has been a VERY slight increase in temperatures but thats due to the SUN and has recurred throughout the history of the world even when there were no humans alive. The Earth has mechanisms for cleaning itself. If this wasn't true, the air quality would get worse and worse over the ages. We know that's not happening. We had ice ages come and go when no humans were alive.

The myth that 3000 scientists agree is just that, a myth. it keeps popping up in the literature here and there but it has been debunked several times, A lie told often enough will eventually be believed.

Global warming is a THEORY, not fact (as far as being the fault of humans). The problem is, since Al "The Alien Love Child" Gore made his little movie, the liberals followed along.

Follow the money. Who funds the research into global warming? How much money would a scientist get to research that global warming is NOT the fault of humans? Science cost money.

For me, I have not seen enough evidence to prove to me that humans are to fault for global warming. I do believe it is happening, but that it is a natural occurring event.

No. it is not a hoax, liberal or otherwise. There is an overwhelming consensus in the scientific community that Green house gas emissions released through industrial activity(chiefly carbon dioxide) are warming the planet.

The only constant in life is change. Our global climate is the same. The liberals are trying to sell us a load of BS by the whole "Climate in Crisis" nonsense. Anyone ever read the book "State of Fear" by Michael Crichton (sp?)? Granted - the book's storyline itself is fiction, but the information presented about global warming is factual - I looked up a lot of the NOAA information myself.

Maybe, maybe not. I don't know.

a) Do nothing and risk having the planet ignite into a torch.
b) Do something to clean up the planet and make it a healthier place to live in.

I don't have kids... soooo I really don't care which you choose.
