I dress the way I want even if it is not in style. I have friends who are not Indian and they wear bandanas on their heads. The wearing of a bandana does not have anything to do with Indian ancestry, in America it had more to do with the hippy movement.

Dude, I wear my feathers out in public just SO people will notice and realize "hey there's still Indians around". It creates opportunity to TEACH people about my people.
As for your sense of style, you can lead or be a sheeple. I honestly don't think a bandana exactly SCREAMS Indian but that's beside the point.
OVER HERE tho, alot of GANGS have taken over the bandana, wear the wrong color in the wrong part of town and you could get shot for it. It's ridiculous.

first tell me this:: do you feel more like yourself with the look you feel others don't approve of or understand? well, i am a 41 yr. old that could pass for someone's errant teenage daughter at first glance. i dress funny, i don't have too much sophistication or propriety in my appearance, but i feel really strange if i try to dress for that image. so i don't, and i pay for it by not getting the respect or faith in my abilities that i would if i conformed... so what is more important to you -- how you look to yourself, or how others look at you?

Yay another Native American! I say do whatever you want. I get those same looks for what I wear here in the U.S.

Of course. You be whoever you want to be, dress like you want. So much anymore, people expect everyone to fit into a "theme". Be yourself and don't let the "jeering" of anyone stop you. GOOD LUCK!!!

I never care about what people think, and I dont think you should either. You are who you are, and people should accept you for it. If they don't then those are the type of people you dont want to associate with anyways.

Wear it... be free to be yourself... if they stare... cross your eyes and pug your nose at 'em or make "fishy face". Then smile at 'em... Usually gets people to stop staring; and then makes them wonder what you're up to. ;)
