Why not give them their own state?

The best thing we ever did in Canada, was give the French their own state where they could be independent and develop their own identity.

Quebeckers have gone from being 2nd class citizens, scorned as backward and uneducated Roman Catholic peasants, to being one of the most dynamic and prosperous economies in North America. By having the opportunity to do things their own way and be masters of their own house, free from discrimination.

Today, Quebec exports a huge supply of hydro-electric power, has diverse agriculture and manufacturing, and the lowest university tuitions in North America.

States rights has always been a means for different people to have their own culture and economy.

Canada's government is set up differently that that of the US. If we had one state that was designated for African-Americans and most moved there that would greatly diminish their influence in Congress. They would have only 2 Senators and their representatives in the House would be limited by their population.

The New Black Panther Party advocates that as well. Where are you going to give them their own state? Are they going to be part of America or a separate independent sovereign? Quebec one of the most dynamic and prosperous economies in North America.........surely you must be kidding! They have a higher unemployment rate than the national average, head offices have left Montreal consistently since the 1990's, it borders on being a welfare state, there is massive corruption in Quebec politics (the sponsorship scandal was just the tip of the iceberg). Their tax base has shrunk, much like Toronto's has, and they are crying to the feds for more money. Hardly dynamic and prosperous.

This is a joke, right? The blatant racism in this and in a specific post is ridiculous.

...Regardless, The United States of America is a country that gained its citizens through immigration and those immigrants eventually assimilated into the current population. While many people still have problems with someone of a different color, it is not a representation of the American people. Honestly it feels as if you are suggesting that we should forcibly remove people from one place and put them into another. Was Hitler providing a new state for Jews so they could thrive? Of course not. But, this is what you are suggesting.

The only reason that people are having a hard time assimilating into our world, even after so long, is because of people like you that will not allow it.

Living where you want to live has always been a tenet of our country. For centuries Jews were forced to live in areas called Ghettos, now it seems you wish to recreate it.
I don't even think your claim that giving Quebecois their own state has worked out so well as they consistently want independence from the rest of Canada and have left you with an awkward bilingual status and they are very persistent with demands for parity and very sensitive about their fellow Canadians who perceive them as uneducated Roman Catholic peasants.
We don't always live together in peace, but the idea of shipping all of any kind of people off to a separate state just isn't something we wish to emulate.

Right now, Black Americans have fifty states, and I doubt they would trade them for only one state, under any arrangement. They are our fellow citizens, no less. In this same context, I don't think Canada "gave" Quebec to its French-speaking citizens. If anything, Anglos "took" the rest of Canada from them, and "left" them the place where they were most concentrated. I suggest you rethink your assumptions about citizenship, demographics, and social engineering by governments.

This is the UNITED States of America. Black Americans are Americans. They are an important, integral part of the fabric of this society. Their ancestors paid their dues, Lord knows, it is now their heritage, their birthright, to be American.

Quebec is a sad compromise in my eyes. They barely consider themselves as Canadians. Periodically, there is a movement to succeed from Canada. That is not what the United States wishes to see at all.

Because Black Americans are Americans, and that's what you're not seeing. The French want to be independent because they'd rather think of themselves as French first and Canadian second. Black Americans see themselves as Americans first, as do all races who live here.
So the reason we do not have a seperate state for Black people is because we're not a bunch of uneducated, simpleton, racist, geonophobic, idiots like you.

But that is segregation, and America fought long and hard to end segregation. American culture is enriched by the mix of all races, religions, backgrounds...if we start separating then out, then that will be counterproductive to what America is.
