The possibility of his egoism would be contingent upon whether or not he merely thought or felt subjectively that his death would accomplish this purpose, or if he knew that his death would have this objective consequence. If he knew that his death would have this objective result, the assertion of egoism would not hold much weight as an argument.
Further, you might want to elaborate on what you mean by Jesus' death "saving the world." For most Christians, this means that God identifies himself so completely with humanity, that he enters himself into the realities of suffering and death. This identification of God with suffering and death has profound effects in terms of Christian convictions about humanity and the ultimate nature of existence. It is part of the article of faith that Christians call the Incarnation, which is accomplished inasmuch as God takes on a human nature in Jesus Christ, uniting this human nature to the essential reality of his divine person and nature. So, in Christ's death, Christians see an action of God, not just a human death.

NO, I dont believe he was being egotistical. If your parents told you that you could be anything you want to be in life and you go to school with that confidence does that make you egotistical??.. Not at all .. It was a birthrite and with Jesus..that was the purpose for his life. And besides how do you explain prophets who lived hundreds of years before Christ .. prophesying about HIs life and his very purpose ...

I don't know what Jesus thought was at that time.
But for a person to think his/her death can save this world means he is one with this world.
So If jesus thought that then he is One with this world.

I don't think He thought it Would save the whole world. He simply offered people the choice...
Its not egotism if he truly was the Son of God.

No, but you are definitely more self righteous than he could ever be. How dare you throw stones and insults. Don't worry he forgives you. Wait you would have to believe in him first, so I guess it will be very warm where you end up. Bring marshmallows

Whats even worse is that he got killed and yells "why have you forsaken me" then hes like i planed this all along so you can go to heaven. The funniest thing is 1/2 the planet doesn't acknowledge him and have their own religions to waste their life with. Apart from that his teaching of Love thy neighbor is a very good way to live your life. <--- extreme anti-christian bias.

Remember the saying, throw mud at the sun, you only get it in your eyes, so first be willing to do at least one thing that he did as a human being, then start point figures at him.

he only believed it because God told him it's so. hence, no he's not egotistical to think that. however, if you don't see God's Word as truth then yes, i guess he is.
