I'm trying to tone my legs by doing a few squats and lunges every other day or so, but I've noticed that after three or four squats/lunges my left knee starts to click - it's not painful, but quite noticeable: I feel as well as hear it. The more I bend my leg the more it clicks when I start to straighten it out. Doing a few stretches seems to make it go away - but then a few squats/lunges later it starts again.

I'm not an athletic person - walking the dog for an hour or so every few days is the most exercise I normally get. I've never injured my knee/leg either.

I also have issues with my left knee - without ever having an injury to it.
If your worried about it, then you could see your doctor and explain the situation to him, or see a physiotherapist. They could examine your knee, maybe get an x-ray done, and if there is nothing wrong than it will bring piece of mind.
I live with the pain in my knee most days, particularly when its cold, I can feel it cracking and hear it. I have had mixed reports about it, but at the moment I can deal with the pain and what happens, I know what my limitations are, and if its just one type of exercise causing ya problems, maybe see if there is something else you can do.

I think most of the cases are related to lack of calcium intake. And sometimes due to what we eat or drink. Consuming lots of soda drink and coffee or tea and some acidic drink could caused the problems.

I suggest you to read the testimonials from the source that I found. Maybe you could find similar problems and the solutions.

Unless you start to experience pain your fine! Like you said your not a very athletic person, think of it as your body working out some long overdue kinks.

Clicks slightly? I'll trade ya. Mine sounds like a string of fireworks going off, or a bowl of rice krispies.

i think i have the same "clicking problem". im guessing its just a natural occurence you have since birth. like if someone is double jointed or not. i don't think its something to be bothered about too much
