Dumbledore cared about Harry. He knew , or had guessed that Harry's tragic fate would be death eventually. However he kept that information from Harry to avoid causing him anxiety from all the pressure. This shows how much he cared for the boy....He agreed to have snape on his side for the same purpose:ensuring Harry's protection since snape alone, other than Dumbledore himself, knew abt the prophesy. Thats another proof of the headmaster's concern for Harry...making sure that there is someone who could help Harry reach his goal after dumbledore's death.

In the goblet of fire, remember the look of "triumph' Harry saw in the headmaster's eyes when he told him tht voldy took his blood. That triumph was due the discovery that now harry, who was a horcrux too, might not have to die since voldy taking his blood would keep his mother's sacrifice alive! that triumph showed he loved harry and was worried for him.

It is almost a father/son relationship. Remember, though, that Dumbledore plays an immensely deep game against Voldemort and has to manipulate Harry by means of selective supply of information.

That sounds bad, but it is no more than what parents do all the time--give their children answers to their questions that will satisfy the their curiosity, but may not be the complete story.

As you might expect, the relationship becomes a more equal one as Harry grows up. We could have expected a true friendship had Dumbledore lived.

Dumbledore, no doubt, loved Harry, but was scared to tell him about his past because he respected Harry so much. I think that Dumbledore was sort of like another father figure to Harry, in the fact that he always kept him safe and looked out for him.
