For temporary satisfaction... In the long run, it doesn't make a difference.
"To Be or Not To Be?" TO BE is temporary......NOT TO BE is inevitable....

It is part of our human nature to demand that our lives are worthy to be lived and so we do things to increase our feelings/illusions of self worth. For example, we help others by donating to a charity and that makes us feel good about ourselves. Then we subtly deceive ourselves that our helping others is the purpose for which we were put on this earth.
Self-deception is an essential element in our acceptance of self praise and the praise of others as evidence of real purpose and real meaning and real worth. That is basic psychology.
But real purpose can only come from a Creator
“Unless you assume a God, the question of life’s purpose is meaningless.” –Bertrand Russell (20th century philosopher, mathematician and Nobel Laureate)

there is no point that i can see that's why we set are own goals that's why every 1 chases different things i think its better that way say for instance the purpose of life WAS to please god then everyone would read the bible everyone would go to church even just knowing the meaning of life would take away who we really are it would take away are individuality because we would all be chasing the same things i think if there was a real meaning of life (which we new of) then there would really be no point in living .

Doing nothing means you lose any chance of imput or change and are forced to accept what has been done. You are then a victim
Doing something gives you an opportunity to change and influence outcomes. You are then a survivor.

Doing something is existence, an assertion of ego, without which we would feel lost.
Ego further makes sure that not only do we have to do something, this something must meet its approval as one of the important things..... we are arrogant because of our ego and that makes us want to do something all the time...... the ego needs to feel as though the power of self is being realized and not wasted.

The most fit reason why one does anything is because one finds meaning in it. In other words, it is meaningful to do "x". Meaningfulness may or may not entail different things to different opinions.
