Knowing that there are children in the world living under the poverty line who suffer from malnutrition and are ravaged with disease, heartless slaughterings in other countries, painful reconciliations, fighting a war with the world (not just Iraq) that will never end because we attack anyone if we feel afraid or that our ego is threatened?

How do you do it?

I live my life the way I want to live it. I'm retired. I worked damned hard all of my life to enjoy my retirement. I live abroad now, I have no TV and the only news I get is on here, invariably distorted.
I don't agree with wars, but having said that, if the Allies hadn't gone to war in 1939 and Hitler won, you may not be on here now.
If we all gave up everything we owned to help these people we would just end up like them and they would be no better off. They need education. They suffer not from poverty as you know it, they suffer from poverty of the mind.

I use prayer as my comforter. I also pray for those that are being oppressed, those that walks miles for the next delivery of rice.

Its hard to know that a war in Iraq is more important to the leaders than helping the people of Sudan, The Congo, an other countries and more important than for all Americana's not to have health insurance.

Prayer is the answer, no matter what the question may be!

Joining a union, twice holding elective respresenative status,
working through two seperate new contract renewals, filing and mediation grievance for contract violations, using union
clout to march 700,000 strong all day through a city to voice
common opinions, donated collected monies to do good works, assist non-union labor at other places of employment
to better understand their rights of citizenship, meanwhile
being a sister or brother to all fellow AFL-CIO members.

Standing alone isn't how you do it.

Basically, you have to live your life for yourself, if you cannot look after yourself then you cannot look after anybody else, after yourself, comes your loved ones.
You cannot control what other people, countries or governments do, so why worry.
Live life everday like there is no tomorrow, because maybe there will be no tomorrow.

Forget all that stuff. Concentrate on being good to your family; friends; workmates and others you come into contact with. Forget about saving the world. You cannot do it.

It's really very simple. I do whatever my wife tells me. I get my marching orders in the morning and it's down hill from there on through the rest of the day! Actually I do what ever I damn well please, and don't you ever forget that fact!
