I heard something like BTA (Business Travel Allowance) a part from the flight but not sure if it's for real or not.

Anyhow, take care. Nigeria is a country with full of scam artists.

There might be something like an airport/departure tax. If his business involved exports there might be export taxes or a similar tax based on his business. The best thing is for him to contact his embassy in Nigeria, inform them, and ask their advise.

Another thought might be that he/she doesn't want to leave and is using an excuse.
