Thorgirl, would you dare to equate Pinochet with Winston Churchill?

Better look that up.

LOL...yeah Kroytox, Just like we "won" over Communist China and North Vietnam, look how that domino theory tumbled!
Don't worry, you make it very clear that innocent civilians deserve to die by the thousands when a democratically elected leader talks about nationalizing his metal industry.
You should be ashamed that you support an internationally known war criminal.

and for the sake of....the threat of communism? Laughable!

How much crap do you have in your house from China? Do you understand they supported North Vietnam the entire duration of that war?

..and I'd like to add that becoming another "Cuba" is also a joke, since they have survived peacefully within a supposed "democratic" world (although you live under a plutocracy in reality)
,despite embargos attempting to crush them.
I'm sure you'd also like to see innocent Cuban women and children die for that "cause" as well.

Yet a criminal state like North Korea is allowed to remain peacefully though kim jung has tortured and killed countless MILLIONS of his people.
Does he have anything the multinationals want? nope.
You need to see your clear hypocricy.

Thor: Sure communism has validity, look how well it did for China!

And I see how hypocritical you are, they are "racing" towards capitalism....pfffba...

You sheeple really don't care how many human rights violations go on under any regime,
if they are on the wrong side of the US as dictated through corpogovernment media, that's the only time you perk your little dog ears up.

Dresden was a mistake as well...

However Pinochet was OUR CIA puppet who was arrested for war crimes.

It's highly suspect you people would support ruthless murderous Fascists over peaceful democratically elected leaders,
And Allende had nothing to do with Communism, there is no proof at all of that, the copper industry made sure to shove that steaming load of propaganda BS down your throats and you'll believe it at every single turn every time.

Out of fear of communism the US has an embarrassing history of supporting thugs and brutal killers so long as they were anti communist (or claimed thier enemies were communists - not always the truth)
The list includes
Soeharto in Indonesia
Marcos in Philippines
Diem in Vietnam
Pol Pot in Cambodia (a communist himself but supported in his war against Vietnam on the basis the Vietnamese were more communist)
Pinochet in Chile
Somoza in Nicuragua
The Contras in Nicuragua
Noriega in Panama
Montt in Guatemala
The Mujahideen in Afghanistan (from which evolved the Taliban)

A foreign policy (especially under Reagan- but also present under other Presidents from both parties) of "my enemy's enemy is my friend" has proven overly simplistic and disastrous before. The answers you are getting here suggest that some have learnt nothing from these mistakes.

Here's how we SHOULD conduct ourselves.

Respect the sovereignty of ALL countries. What gives us the right to do things in other countries we would NEVER tolerate a foreign power to do here?

If we had followed this policy there would be no such thing as "blow back" which has moved us out of the pot and into the fire repeatedly.

Virtually every one of these coups (including the one HERE on November 22nd 1963) have been for the benefit of the International Bankers and Military/Industrial Complex who are the TRUE rulers of the USA (and World).

Pinochet was not yet a killer. His policies and actions were not subject to psychic disclosure, thank you.

Allende's economic policies (like all socialist approaches) dropped his nation into debtor status with no standing for trust regarding future loans. He ruined them.

His connections to Communist nations was (as all such are) a threat to U.S. sovereignty.

Why would we support someone who had U.S.S.R advisors reorganizing their military? Why do we need someone who gives the U.S.S.R. a safe place to land? Why would we support them? Why WOULDN'T we want someone else there?

In hind sight? Someone other than Pinochet or Allende, but the constant cry of people that we have too many people that turn out to be untrustworthy or criminal seems in direct odds with the constant cry that we set up puppet governments.

You think, that with all the power we have, we couldn't REALLY set up a puppet government that didn't do things like Pinochet did? Nonsense. He'd be scared to make a move if we were as criminal as all the conspiracy theorists make us out to be.

Instead, we do the best we can, and sometimes we get bit for the effort. The funny thing? You seem to ignore the fact that we went after him as well for his crimes (Pinochet's) and caught him for money laundering...

using the U.S. Patriot Act.

for the same reason we supported a ruthless Killer Like Winston Churchill over a nice peace loving man like Neville Chamberlain.

Edit the German people would think him a monster for Dresden did Mr Pinochet ever get 120,000 kills in 1 night???

Better rethink it all yourself, We hate even peaceful
Commies. We supported the Shah as well, Not a nice guy but better than the alternatives according to the rules of the day.

China is racing towards Capitalism and Democracy faster than an Olympic Sprinter--- we are winning that battle.

You must be very young to think communism has any validity.

Pointing to Chinas 90 year history with communism flies in the face of it's 3000 year history! What a laugh! It would be like taking the first Month of GW Bush in Office and Saying WOW that has really meant a Lot to American History. I nearly pee'd myself over that one! Now take your Little BS Commie dreams and go outside and paint something red. IT"S OVER FOR COMMUNISM! SO VERY OVER.

People who like Pinochet probably also don't know about Colonia Dignidad.

The US supported two coups of democratically elected leaders - Allende in Chile and Mossadegh in Iran. Both of these men became extreme socialists after getting elected (read they weren't elected based on these policies). That doesn't justify installing a right wing military dictator in Chile who is responsible for thousands of deaths (mostly trade unionists, communist party workers and their affiliates). Instead the US should have monitored closely and financially supported democratic opposition movements. Iran is a different story - I support the overthrow of Mossadegh. He was too extreme especially in his expropriation of oil refineries and nationalizing them. Personally, I think he and his comrades were dangerous and would have been a disaster for Iran - much like the 1979 Islamic revolution was.

no, do YOU remember history?

why people like you do not remember that Allende was a leftist puppet of the world Communist force back in the Cold War days and that Pinochet saved Argentina from becoming another Cuba back in those days!!!

and that the ones killed by Pinochet deserved to be killed because of been leftist butholes trying to take Argentina into a Communist hell....!

clearly you either do not remember of if you do you like Communism even though today you clearly enjoy the life in a Democratic capitalist world.
