I saw a documentary in which a doctor related the rise in autoimmune diseases to the loss of the parasitic load we evolved with. He sucessfully treated a girl who was scheduled to have her colon removed, by infecting her with some type of intestinal parasite which released immunosuppressants. Whether you would regard this as a cure or just a treatment I don't know but the girl got her life back and no surgery.
