First of all, Summerlin is in Las Vegas. Just happens to be a different section of that city. Both have high priced homes. But, I would give a slight edge to the Henderson area for one reason. Since 1989, no major home builder in the Southern Nevada region has used even one board foot of kiln-dried lumber in building the frames of houses. The Green Valley section of Henderson began its building campaign in 1982. Summerlin didn't get started until a few years after that. So, I believe there is more housing stock in the Green Valley section of Henderson that is not going to be subject to mold and dry rot in future years, as opposed to the Summerlin section of Las Vegas.
Me? I live in Paradise.

Henderson is older with a more varied city plan and a little more rustic. summerlin is more modern with a comprehensive city plan. Sort of like Irvine in SoCal but in the desert. I think that I prefer Henderson as well. But the schools are probably better in Summerlin. Good luck.

They are both award winning communities. I live in Henderson and prefer it over Sumerlin. But, there would be many arguments against my choice. You would not be disappointed in either location.
