I don't know what to do. I missed my period last month, and I am not sure why. I am a virgin until I am married and have not even taken my clothes off in front of a guy since about 3 months ago. So I know there is no way that I am pregnant. But, I did start to exercise hard this summer (meaning 50 minutes of cardio 5 days a week, plus weights after I finish my cardio routine). I had my period the first month of the summer, so I don't understand why I missed last month. Would you go see a doctor?

I am 21 years old... I have had my period since I was 13... It always comes about every 35 days or so... It is actually quite regular for someone that has never taken birth control...

yes, I'd at least call an OB/GYN doctor and see if they think you should come in. Exercise, stress and even what you eat can have an effect on your cycle. Good Luck.

It might have something to do with the exercise. The same thing happened to me beginning of the summer. I started hiking 3 times a week and I exercised at home with weights, jump rope, etc. at home when I wasn't hiking. I had a month where my period was extremely late. I didn't go to the doctor so I don't know if that is why it happened so don't just assume it was the exercise. I just felt I should share my same experience with you. I hope everything is ok. Take care.

Stress can cause a period to be delayed a month as well. Also, it is not uncommon for some women to skip a month. But because you are going in to two months without a period I would recommend seeing your doctor to have them evaluate the situation further to see what they think is going on.

Having an irregular menstrual cycle, including the period, is very normal during the first several years after you start menstruating. Keep a menstrual calendar and record each period, including the flow pattern. Bring the calendar in with you when you have your next doctor's appointment and explain your irregular flow to him/her.
