i think that we're just ahead of other species but some others can evolve to be as intellient as we are, and as far as i've read about evolution from darwin i think it is really possible that apes can be as intelligent as humas in a couple thousand years on

I agree...but i also have to say that I don't think that a humans definition of intelligence and an apes definition of intelligence are or ever will be the same....By that I mean that we may never understand what the other group is really doing or thinking.....we have different makeups and needs.

Apes and humans are both equally 'evolved'. We have both had the same amount of time to adapt to our respective environments. The environments are just different.

Could apes evolve to be as intelligent as we are? Sure they could, but it would be on a bigger time scale than a couple of thousand years.

Actually these days I'm not so sure we're all that smart anyway. 8^<

in theory yes but realisticaly no.the biggest problem is that we have a huge head start on other animals..kinda like could a worm evolve to be smarter than a dog...with enough time yes but wouldnt the dog be evolving just the same during the same time period?

livinhapi, has your answer.

Humans are animals; otherwise we would be plants. Those are our only two choices; having said that, we would evolve as plants as well. Everything alive is evolving, albeit very slowly,

Our intelligence is directly linked to our trading culture. Without this trade, we would have never make it... So just observed different animals to see if they begin some form of trading behavior, by then you will know if they are coming to catch us!

Who said humans were smart. War, murder, greed, crimes, American Idol, looks pretty hopeless to me.
