Which Elvis?

If you mean Elvis Costello, then yes, he's written plenty.

If you mean Elvis Presley, then no, I don't think he did. He's certainly better known as a singer/performer rather than a singer/songwriter.

No he didn't - despite the fact his name appears on a number of songs as co-writer. This was down to Elvis' manager Col Parker wangling extra money for his client (or rather himself) by telling songwriters that Elvis would record their song in exhange for a shared writers credit. The writers would often agree as an Elvis recording of their song (even with split royalties) would get them far more money than if some other singr recorded it

ditto The Font. He "collaborated" on several (although no matter who you are, "collaboration" is about as difficult as having a beer while you watch the peasants work)... another example - he even had a friend write a poem for his daughter as her fourth birthday gift... sorry, but if I want to give words to somebody I'll write them myself so they mean something. For Elvis, like a lot of other performers - so long as somebody thinks you might make them some money, you will. Marketing is everything.

To the best of my knowledge Elvis was a singer, never a song writer. The singer-songwriter duos didn't become popular until the 1960s.

Actually - in a way, Elvis did write a song. In those early songs, he wasn't a writer, he was an arranger. He did the arrangement of the songs. The song he is actually credited for writting "That's Someone You'll Never Forget" Long story short, he gave the Idea and Title to Red West and I can't think of the third guy's name and left those two to write it.

no Elvis was the original "Pop Idol" you know he could perform, (i dont think anyone could sing and perform like him ever - well actually i would Michael Jackson was up there in his prime) but he was no songwriter, he knew how to play guitar and mastered it way after he was famous.

Elvis wasn't a songwriter, just a great performer. He once said in an interview, and I quote, "I don't write 'em, I just sing "em"! And boy did he ever.
