I basically need to setup my vonage box but it needs a live connection. currently i have to "log" into the internet then i have access to the web. but i want to have 1 card (currently) getting the internet from the cable modem and the other card just acting as a router giving internet to the vonage box. any ideas?

Most vonage adapters have a "router" built in since they need to be directly connected and on at all times to receive inbound calls. The normal setup is from the cable modem--to-->VonageBox- to--->comptuter. Vonage also has the ppoe settings to allow you to "login" if you have to in order to connect so check its manual and installation information before you proceed.. you might even call them for help.

If for some reason you want to go to your computer first then the router you can try to enable Internet Connection Sharing ICS between the two nics but I will tell you with VOIP it doesn't work well!
Just do a search on Microsoft for Internet Connection sharing and you will find the full details.
