Already there are concerns that the records are too public and that a simple google search can retrieve the names and other information of couple who have registered. Is this the same or different than public information available when Male/Female couples marry, or is it the same situation. Would hiding this information for same sex couples be fair if the same information is available for straight couples? Or, is this one of the "rights" of marriage. Should the information be sealed or public?

I think until equality issues are fully addressed and people are protected from unfair targeting, the list should not be made public.

Hi!

I believe the information should be sealed. I don't like str8 people but even with that said....straight or gay, I think people's information should be kept private. That's no different then someone's credit card number floating around for everyone to see. Sure, there is a chance of someone hacking into the records, just as there is a chance with anything else confidential. If not sealed by law, then I think each couple should have their choice whether they want it made public or private. :)

Hmmm... I think, to be practical, it should be hidden. Technically it ought to be just like straight marriage - but no one's going to fire you because they do some digging and find out you're in one of those!

As long as gay people have very solid reasons for keeping their orientation secret, I think the government ought to help them keep it under wraps. I reckon, when gay people can get married just the same as straight people (not domestic partnership, not civil union...) - that would mean the climate's changed and there's no need for secrecy and special treatment. But right now, it's necessary.

Hooray for Washington and Gregoire, btw! :)

Why would you hide this information? Are you ashamed of your choice?

Of course these records should be public. It makes no sense to keep them private.

If your partner was hurt and rushed to a hospital, what should happen if your partnership were secret and no one knew you shared a commitment?

It needs to be done the same as Male/Female couples. Equal rights means equal treatment.

I think that in this day and age (of identity theft and other social ills) that people deserve as much privacy as they desire..gay or straight..black or white..rich or poor.

personally they shouldn't allow this at all but if they are letting gays put out that they are living with their lovers then it should be open to the public so the we can keep our kids away from these gay couples so that they don't try anything with our kids just as anyone convicted of sex crimes should be forced to register.
