Every Labor Day weekend we used to have our family reunion at a lake in the high Seirra Nevada Mountains of Northern CA at a huge reservior that dired up into mudholes every summer. There was anywhere from 30-50 bikes. You can imagine the fun we had. Memories that never fade with the passing of time. If I could go back in time, that's where I'd be!!!!

Oh yes...I remember that time.
I was 12 years old and didn't have any money to buy a dirtbike. And we weren't rich or anything so parents getting me one was out of the question.
So I begged everyone I knew incessantly until I had parts enough to build up a bike. My dad and me took parts off of several broken bikes and made one that would actually run.
It had a Yamaha 80 2-stroke motor, Honda frame...and who knows what other brands for other components. The bike was held together with baling wire, plumbers tape, even a roll of that old cloth tape libraries used to fix books (sorta like duct tape).
The bike looked like a rolling junk yard and I got many comments from my friends to that effect too. But I also beat some of em with that "mighty junk heap".
Fun times...and yeah I do sort of miss them. But now I have kids of my own and they work on their bikes and have fun with it too.

yep, I remember those days well... and sure do miss them since there was almost unlimited potential riding areas everywhere, no environmentalists, no endangered species, just a bunch of kids having a load of fun outside (not like today with all the computer games)...
started off in ~'62/63 with an All-state scooter (a real motorcycles but had floor boards), honda trail 90, kawasaki G5 100 (dual range gear box), kawasaki G4 100 (had two of those), honda XR75, Suzuki TS185, Yamaha DT250, CanAm 125 MX, CanAm 175 Enduro... dating up to 1976 ... rode everyday for what seemed like hours until it was time to go home to do my homework and have dinner...
ah, the good old days and the simple life...

Ah the good old days. We used to ride small road bikes in the woods. I had a 60cc Honda and my brother had a C90 Cub. The kid down the street had a QA50.

I remember "mini bikes". Fat little tires and briggs and stratton engines with rope starts. Made by companies like Arctic Cat. Remember those?

Yeah, and it was the time of the 'scrambler' bike. Whatever happened to them? Or are they now the same as Enduro bikes?

Not me. I wasn't even born yet. Why would you even ride a bike if you're so old?
