You load up the rpms. Then feather the clutch till its just about ready to grip. If they have stronger clutches or depending on the tq/rpms they can dump it. Othertimes they just feather it for a split second. Since it is already ready to grip, just a slight movement will grip, then they can dump it.

launch methods change from car to car, but are generally hellish on the transmission/clutch, and pretty impractical.
There are 2 main methods: a clutch slip, and a clutch dump. Dumping the clutch means you rev it to a certain point, and just let the clutch out completely. Its horrid on the car, but if you have enough grip (and enough clutch), you can get very good launches. Most AWD cars do high RPM clutch dumps for their best times. Most transmissions will only last a few of these though, making them impractical. Slipping the clutch is a more careful procedure, where you add power and let out the clutch as your cars grip can handle it. Most RWD and FWD cars use this method, as theyre usually more grip limited (not clutch or power)

Rev the engine to it's power band (high RPM's), THEN let out the clutch quickly while at the same time burying the gas pedal. You'll either take off quick, or spin the tires trying. =D

Easy - quick takeoff is all about riding the clutch and getting the revs up! You just do it all much much faster than normal road driving!

They rev the engine and drop the clutch and watch the car fly. Keep in mind though that they change their clutches more often than you change your oil. Much more often.

Their shifter is on the steering wheel, first of all. Much faster to shift.
The slowly bit is for beginners, until they get the feel needed to not stall the car out.
