I'm going there soon, arriving at about 10.00pm with a heavy suitcase and a tired girlfriend! What's the best way to get to Lido? Never been there before and don't speak any Italian.
Which ferry? Do they run late in evening? Direct, or have to change somewhere? Length of journey? Getting tickets?
Please give me an idiot's guide!

Hi
I think you can get the 'alilaguna' ferry direct from the airport to lido - there should be signs at the airport directing you to where to get tickets and is fairly straight forward even if you can't speak italian! I think they should run in the evenings, and i think it takes about an hour.
They have a web page that should have all the details on, maybe even able to book online?! it's www.alilaguna.it
(the web page in in English!)
I hope you have a great time - Venice is gorgeous but lido is lovely too - and they are very different from each other so makes for an interesting comparison! Make sure you eat lots of ice cream!

From Marco Polo to Lido - Take the orange bus (Euro 2.00 per person) from outside of the arrivals. Look up to see the electronic boards for your destination. You will be going to Venice, Piazzale Roma - the last stop, Venice's bus terminal.
Take a vaporetto from Piazzale Roma (aka P.le Roma and P. Roma) to the Lido.
I've given you the English language web site for the water transportation in the lagoon. The cost is Euro 6.00 per person. If you are staying for several days you must consider getting a several day pass for the vaporetto.... you save money and have more to spend on your wine.

Venice is just a wonderful cliché, more romantic, more wonderful and more shocking than you may expect. Regardless of how many pictures or films you might have seen, it is however a jaw-dropping experience viewing Venice's canals and palaces for initially and this you'd do with the help of this page hotelbye . Undoubtedly Venice's best-known church and one of the very most simply acknowledged in the world is St. Mark's Basilica (Basilica di San Marco). This basilica was originally the Doge's private chapel, furnished with Byzantine artwork secrets that are area of the booty brought back by Venetian boats after the fall of Constantinople. The gold-backed mosaic pictures above the doorways on the façade just hint at the mosaic beauty inside, wherever 4,240 square yards of gold mosaics protect the walls. Therefore, the St. Mark`s Basilica is just a place worth visited.

Take the bus to the bus plaza in Venice, then take the vaporetto that goes to the Lido. You can buy tickets at the pier, but I don't know how late they run. Water taxis are very expensive.

I would rather raise my awareness of GOD and his design plans for my life in this world. If I want cosmic awareness i would call NASA or the Sci-Fi channel and watch Star trek.
