I have no idea why women are so "in the dark" about their periods, and sexuality in general for that matter.

I am only fifteen years old, a virgin, and I plan on staying that way until my wedding night, but I decided a couple years ago that I wasn't going to be one of those "dumb teens" who doesn't know anything about something so important.

It's my body, I gotta live with it. We might as well get acquainted.

because when you are getting sex ed at school you've usually got some dumb *** making jokes and being stupid so you can't hear!
Like the one in my class who thought it hysterical to play with the CAP we were being shown and throwing round the class room (happened to be my boyfriend at the time)
I know my periods usual date but sometimes it's a few days earlier or later so it's not that I don't know much about it.
I think the only reason I do know more about it is because of when I was having IVF treatment and the years before of trying for a baby made me more aware:)

Every womans body is different, some may experience stuff earlier on in life while others experience it later. So they talk to each other and find out what the hell is happening with their bodies

Many women have just not had the parental figures in their lives to teach them the basics.

maybe cos they havent wanted or needed to ask. it surprises me how many people take medicine without knowing the name of it or what its for. i never take anything or give any medication to my children without finding all the details and then people ask how i know so much.

I guess a lot of women just accept it as natural and they know the basics of it, so it ends with that.

I think its very sad that they aren't able to talk to their Moms about it - and maybe some of these clearly very young girls don't have Moms to ask. It's all very scary for young girls too.

because not many people are willing to talk as openly about it as i am. people are too embarrassed to talk to their parents so they like to ask questions on here where they are anonymous.
