5x^2+7x+1=0
let,
a=5,
b=7 &
c=1

now put these values in the formulae-
for 1st value of x
x= {-b+(b^2-4ac)^1/2}/2a

&,for 2nd value of x
x={-b-(b^2-4ac)^1/2}/2a

on solving
the 1st value of x will be,
x={-7+(29)^1/2}/10=-0.162

&,its 2nd value will be,
x={-7-(29)^1/2}/10=-1.238

from ax²+bx+c = 0 ..... ©

x = [-b ± √(b²-4ac)] / 2a
x = [-7 ± √(49-20)] / 10
x = [-7 ± √(29)] / 10
