Hello,

According to Giacanna's son who wrote the book Double Cross he was taken out for putting Robert Kennedy in as Attoney General. The Mafia worked hard to get him the Italian vote and thought they'd be layed off from government harsassment, co-operate in snuffing Castro (who robbed their Casinos etc). Robert clamped down on organized crime and that was a betrayal. Old man Kennedy did work with them in prohibition days so he was involved in wheeling and dealing with labor unions in the 1960 election too.

Supposedly the mob was mad for JFK giving broither 'Bobby' orders to take down the mob. I don't buy the notion. The mob would have taken down JFK much more creatively - - - and besides they really did not view RFK as a threat in their view his prosecution of fellow mobsters meant job opportunities for those 'smart' enough to 'dodge the bullet.'

Robert Kennedy was Attorney General and like many Attorney Generals felt he needed to shake things up, going after organized crime was a 'popular' cause and great for TV ratings. The theory that the Mob had something to do with JFK's death is bolstered by the fact that one of JFK's many girlfriends was literally in bed with the mob, the girlfriend of Sam Giocammi (mispelled) who was high of Robert Kennedy's hit list.

Giancana felt that he 'fixed' the ballots during JFK's election to turn the tide in his favor and get him re-elected...with the promise of keeping 'hands-off' of mob activities. Instead, RFK began targeting organized crime, particularly in the New Orleans area (he had Marcello unceremoniously deported). For crossing the mob, JFK paid with his life....
