I turned on my pc, and the screen was wavy/mixed with various colors. It looked like an old television that had bad reception. I was wondering what could be the cause of this. I know for sure my monitor is ok, since I am using another pc on the monitor I had been using.

I recently did a system restore, but that didn't fix it at home so I took it to be repaired and they brought up the screen just fine. Now I was thinking It might have a bad graphic card, did I mess it up by doing a system restore so It will happen again now I wonder. The guy said it did have a bad calibrator even so I'm not sure if that was the problem. Still searching for ideas of what caused it because I don't think a bad calibrator would make your screen wavy and multicolored.

The cause could be static electricity or a magnet.

I would first try to degauss the monitor. This will release any static. It is one of the options on the printer menu. LCD monitors don't have degauss...not sure if you have LCD or CRT.

Make sure you don't have any large speakers close by.

The color setting is probably too high for that particular monitor. Look in the manual if you still have it to see what it says. Otherwise you can just change the color options down a bit in your control panel screen settings.

Sounds like a bad video card. I had the same type of thing on my computer and had it checked out. They installed a new video card and everything was better.
