How to read a crochet pattern

PATTERN SAYS: Sc in first ch-1 sp.
YOU NEED TO: Work a single crochet in the next chain one space you made on the previous row.

OK, I'm going to try. I wish I could show you, it would be soooo much easier. When you finished the last row you did 2 single crochet stitches, then you chained one and turned your Afghan over to the backside. You now are starting the second row, with a chain on your hook. Now single crochet in the first single crochet ( the last one on the last row, which will now be the FIRST one on the new, second row. Now just make a chain 1. Skip the next single crochet from the previous row.and single crochet in the next chain 1 space. You can tell the difference in a single crochet and a chain stitch if you just look at it. Chain 1, skip the next single crochet and single crochet in the next chain1 space. The * means to repeat the pattern from the first* to the next * across the Afghan until you reach you reach the last chain 1 space. Do a single crochet in this chain 1 space and a single crochet in the last single crochet. Chain 1 and turn. I assume the pattern will continue on this way, but I have no way of knowing. This should get you through the second row. Good luck.

i'm going to attempt to make this concise and consumer-friendly to understand :) you're making the ear flap with the aid of going decrease to and fro down from the entire brim part. once you ch1, you would be turning to make the subsequent rows. "for the time of" in basic terms skill end the row the quantity is the kind of stitches you have got once you're accomplished So ... for row 2-4 you in basic terms ch a million then end the row with sc each and each of how for the time of, once you get to the top you will possibly desire to have 9 sc then on row 5 you do a decrease with the aid of crocheting 2 stitches mutually the place indicated, so once you "sc for the time of" in row 6 you will in undemanding terms finally end up with 7 this time particularly of 9 then there is yet another decrease FO skill "end off" ... this suggests you're accomplished with the 1st ear flap, so which you will decrease the yarn and weave interior the top. next it tells you the place to place the 2d ear flap. count quantity 13 stitches faraway from the 1st ear flap. connect the yarn with a slip sew and repeat the instructions for the earflap
