You absolutely right, I suppose the idea behind it depends on what the term is applied to. Most theories of God or soul refer to transcending, the idea being that neither is bound by time and space as we humans are. Some people often refer to love transcending as well. The main idea behund transcendence is to propose something has a greater meaning or existence than one which we solely give it. By this I mean that as all people, in fact all observable objects inhere in a spatio-temporal world however by saying something is transcendent we are claiming it exists beyond our own existence. Some objects depend upon human existence for their meaning, ie money, hierarchies etc. transcendent objects/ things do not.

Hope this helps its quite hard to capture the whole idea behind transcending.

The transcend bit sounds right, but the bit to go beyond time and to exceed space, this will be difficult. There are some books which mention about time and space being infinately dense, but this will not work for certain philosophical reasons.

Transcending space and time, together is difficult for us human beings, but many saints do it regularly, when they ‘appear’ to travel through space and time, they simply know that everything that exists, does so in the mind, so to transcend, you only have to go within, to a place where both do not exist.

It's a big idea, that's for certain. By many theories they are the same, so to transcend one is to place yourself above both. One of the current realities of existance is that we can only be in one place at a time, so a person who'd like to break those binds would probably desire to be either in more that one place at a time, or more than one time in place.

Through knowledge we transcend time and space. Knowledge reaches beyond our physical confines.

(The imagination, the self, in short - human consciousness - allows us to transcend the material reality)
