Are there more sediments or anything in the garden hose? Would it be gross to drink that compared to the kitchen tap?

Yes and No.
Tap water runs through copper (or galvanized steel or PVC.)
Garden hose water travels through the above system THEN through the garden hose. Garden hoses are made from petroleum based products - which in their constituent parts are toxic to humans (and most other animals of course.)
The same goes for PVC pipe. It is not 'environmentally sound' as it also is made from manufactured chemicals which are documented as being harmful.
After 30 years as a horticulturist I know better than to drink from ANY garden hose. One never knows what has been through it and critters can crawl in it (like earwigs.)
Just be safe and don't drink any water from a hose. For what it's worth - 'bottled water' is sold in manufactured plastic containers. The chemicals used to manufacture those bottles are known to be harmful to humans in their constituent parts. What are we to do!?

The water that comes out of the hose is the same as what comes out of the kitchen tap, unless you have some sort of filter or water softener on your kitchen tap. I've had many a nice cool drink straight from the garden hose! I have no idea why, but I'd swear it tastes better than the water that comes out of the kitchen tap! Maybe I was just thirstier??? :-)

If plain ol' garden hoses are toxic, then I was screwed long ago - I'm 52 and I've been drinking from them since I was a little kid. I don't have any particular plans to stop now! Enjoy!

The water is the same, but it really is not a good idea to drink from a hose on a regular basis due to lead. However, according to this article from consumer reports, I just found it says that "if it’s labeled safe or if you flush it first. Otherwise, the water standing inside may contain worrisome amounts of lead and other chemicals that leach from the hose itself". Anyhow, here is the full article and it sounds like the newer hoses are not as toxic and people think. I would still restrict the amount of water you drink from it.

it is the same however, a hose outside can be a house for bugs worms and anything else that can crawl up there. if your gonna drink that water let it run a good 3 minutes for one thing its gonna be warm water if it summer there. Also I would suggest getting a filter for the house drinking water and using that. Times have changed the farmer that used to drink healthy water from the outdoor pump or hose is a thing of the past.

Not always. In my area we have house water and secondary water. House water comes from the inside pipes, but can be piped through faucets to the outside of the house. Secondary water comes from a different source and is not clean to drink, but great for watering plants and lawn. This also comes out of a faucet. The secondary water does not come from a faucet connected to the house though.

You should also be aware that there are hoses that contain lead and are not safe to drink even house water through. If you are buying a new hose, look to be sure. There will be a warning.

It's the same. The water might pick up sediment if say the hose has been outside with one end opened. Otherwise there is no difference.

If you have a filter under your sink, then there is a difference.

Also, a water softener usually doesn't affect exterior faucets.

Finally, any water just sitting in the hose might pick up something from the material the hose is made of, but it would probable have to be there a long time.

Yep, the same water! and yes, you can drink either of them. Only thing is , let that water hose run a bit ...to flush out any dirt or critters....Also on a hot day , 'cause the water in the hose will be HOT, if it has been in the sun.
Have always drank from the hose when working outside, or years ago as a child.
It won't kill ya, there's worse things...

Same water but if you want a safe hose to drink from go to the RV department of your Wal-Marts or RV dealer and they have white, non toxic hoses that are safe for drinking water and RV use.

Hahahahah. What a dope.

Hey sptfyr, what lead is in a garden hose? More likely chemical leeching from cheap vinyl hoses.

I buy pure rubber, lasts a lifetime.
