Is this good? I am a Raider's fan and glad to and excited about this. Is there anything good that can come out of this? I know he hasn't been that succesful but could the Raider's be an improved team? Opinions please.

That means nothing for Russell. It means about as much as they were saying that Josh McCown might start for them. As long as Russell remains unsigned, it doesn't concern him.

When he signs, the raiders aren't that stupid. They won't just throw him in there as a QB. They will let Mccown and now Culpepper get killed out there while Russell learns the offense. Come on now, you really think they might spend 60 million on their number 1 pick and then get him killed in the 5th week of a crappy season? Give me a break.

Most likely Culpepper and Mccown are going to start the season and play it out. Its going to be the same with Quinn and Charlie Frye. There is no way the raiders will let their QB get killed. We all know the Raiders are going to suck badly this year, so why kill your franchise QB. Instead kill a QB you signed for a year, who is going to be washed up soon.

Good luck!!

To add for this question...the raiders are still going to suck badly this year. I see them being in the top 3 for next year. Then they can draft a young running back, whoever might be there. Then now they have a young RB and QB to set up for the next couple of years. Culpepper isn't going to make the raiders any better. The only thing that will is getting rid of Davis.

Good luck!!

Culpepper is nothing but some pressure for Russell to sign. With the Raiders poor OL Russell would have been running for his life much of the season. How often do you expect an immobile Culpepper to be laying on his back? Often I'd bet.

well at least he can sort of mentor russell if he ever shows up. im thinking that culpepper will start out the season and eventually move aside for russell if he starts doing well during practices. kind of like what the titans did with kerry collins and vince young. if only moss were still on the raiders, things would have looked a little better. but its only a 1 year deal so if he sucks, no big deal.

Daunte Culpepper can do no team any good. I like the people that say Culpepper can "mentor" Russell. What's he going to "mentor" him in? How to fumble, how to throw interceptions, how to be totally incapable of reading defenses? I don't think these are skills that Russell needs.

I think he gets injured 4 or 5 games into the season. I'm sorry to say it but the O-line is really bad. But the upside to this is that Russell gets a experienced QB to follow and he gets more time to get used to the NFL.
