No... not because I am a Democrat (because I am not)... I won't believe him over the joint chiefs that testified today and the numerous number of regional experts that are saying that the surge is not working... and the fact that the Iraqi government is not working.
I won't take one man's perspective over a hundred other people's.
But I do not expect him to give a "positive" report... it will be much too vague to state "success" or "failure"... his report will not be that cut and dry and his report will be heavily edited by the Defense Department and the administration.
You are very naive if you think that Patreus will walk into a political forum with only HIS own opinions and analysis... the administration doesn't pick mavericks for a good reaon.

Why would I believe anything positive he says about Iraq? The last four generals to command the war in Iraq were fired for not spewing the party line about the war. Anything positive he has to say is nothing more than an attempt to keep his job.

IF he gives a positive report. I have not seen a positive report yet...so we will just have to wait and see until there is one if there is one at all. You can not make assumptions based on an "if" factor.

If you believe that the "surge" is working, you are watching the wrong news channels or reading the wrong newspapers.
As for the General, I think he is another patsy butt kisser for Bush.

It doesn't matter what Gen. Patreaus says because (a) Bush is going to continue the war no matter what and (b) three fourths of the American people don't think we should. You are really out of the mainstream, aren't you?

I can see it now.
"I was for it, before I was against it, before I was for it again".
