Not mentioning anyone by name, who are the people who steal your joy -- spouse, child, friend, teacher, coworker, government, etc.?

I disbelieve 2 of you. The implication is that 2 of you are in a perpetual state of joy. This has yet to be recorded in human history.

Tucker...assuming as you did from a simple question could lead to misunderstandings in the world in general. What I asked and others' interpretations of what I meant rests with others -- not me.
Like reputations, I leave those things in the minds of others -- where they belong.

I am currently a detailer for Plebe Summer at the United States Naval Academy, which means my job is to train the new Fourth Class on how to be good Midshipmen and make a smooth transition from civilian to military life as they enter the Brigade of Midshipmen.
It's a lot of hard work. We keep them always on the go, confused and under stress; they make a lot of mistakes and we must always be there to correct/punish them. Though each day of Plebe Summer may be by itself easy, it is a long enduring ordeal.
As a cadre, we must always put out more than they do. We must always be perfect. We not only do what they do, but we must motivate them to perform at the best of their abilities.
Right now, they are robbing me of my enjoyment. Tonight, after all the work we have put into them over the past few weeks, they made a huge mistake and the cadre are seriously disappointed in them and pissed off. I'm tired, but it's time to turn up the heat on them.

Friends sometimes. Brother sometimes. Parents most of the time. Some coworkers. Other people I deal with at work. Work, in general.

I rob myself of joy. I have the habit of putting everything else and everyone else first. I don't allow myself to enjoy quite often. If I'm not happy I really can't blame anyone else but myself.

Myself and no one else.
It is only ones self that allows what others do to impact on that self.
With complete mastery of the mind it would be no one.
I feel that in most cases people do not rob me of joy.
though in a small minorty of instances my mastery of my mind can falter and i can be robbed of joy - though i concede that it is indeed my fault for allowing it to get to me.

First of all...I think it is very narrow-minded to think that only people can rob you of enjoyment. Any kind of sadness, pain, or anger can do that, although people do factor into that. I would have to say that anything that causes me pain, or makes me sad or angry robs me of my enjoyment. It doesn't necessarily mean that people are the cause. Good question though! ^_^

mommymanic is ditto me. I rob myself of enjoyment by putting others before me and I KNOW- still can't help it.
Ultimately, it is one's own mind and its conditioning which leads to one's state of enjoyment or otherwise. People do try their best or worst to contribute to it but then, taking it or leaving it is upto one's own will-power.

It's probably more of myself, but then ,circumstances, things beyond my control and people too.
I look at those who don't let someone or something interfere with their enjoyment and wish I could do that, but up to a certain point.
