have your tried using plyers? that always works for me.

Hot water will cause the plastic to expand. You want to heat the cap without heating the bottle. Even this might not free it enough. I recommend heating the cap & then using an ethyl acetate polish remover in the chack. Keeping the bottle upside-down the whole time. But is the polish is too tightly bonded, I would chack the lid starting near the bottom maybe with a pair of pliers.

Run the top of the polish bottle under hot water. Watch though, you might hurt the tips of you're fingers from the hot water ;)

Well, it's either really old and crusty and should just be thrown out.
Or, you should run it under hot water for a few seconds, quickly get a towel, place it over the cap, and twist your life out of it. If it opens and is gooey and really thick and sticky, you should probably just throw it away, though.

boil some water in a cup in the microwave and pour over it, or soak it in acetone nail polish remover.

rinse it a little in hot water and then use a thimble to put over the top and then just twist as hard as you can. that's what i saw the salon people use

wrap a rubber band on the top to make a better grip. this should work...if theres a man around he can help. good luck!

try to soak it in acitone, "nail polish remover" that should do the trick.
