I hope I was able to catch your attention with my head title. Anyways, I wanted to ask all of you Asians about your diet. I don't want to stereotype any of you BUT how is it that you guys stay slim/skinny and do not gain weight. I know not all Asians are skinny, but most of you are. I just want to know what is your secret because I know most of you have rice in your everyday meal (and steam/white/fried rice can make you gain weight!) Well if you guys can let me know about your secrets, I'd really appreciate it!

Not Asian but thought I'd weigh in.

Typically Asians have a generally healthier diet than others. They consume less artificial and refined sugars. They are more active. and Genetics also plays its role.

Second generation American Asians+ are not as healthy as those who were born or are in their native country so keep in mind it is also a cultural lifestyle.

Well it all depends...

Perhaps it all falls back to each individual's metabolic rate. The higher the rate, the more energy u require, therefore no time to get fat, since all the food are burnt up to produce energy.

Futhermore most Asian countries are labour intensive, therefore most are physically active, -again the use of energy......

Some spare few may lead sedentary lifestyle, therefore they might get obesity problem. From my observation in my country, more people are leading this kind of lifestyle as compared to our forefathers. Now we may see the increase of food/lifestyle related diseases such as heart problem, arteriosclerosis, hypertension, diabetes etc.

well i was hella skinny untill i started lifting weights...lol, i gained 30lbs in 2 years...but i'm still pretty long, lean and pliant(which is good becuz i can jump hella high)...even though i'm about 6' 180, i look like i'm about 6'2 170...anyways back to ur question, for me, it was mostly cuz i have a fast metabolism, but it also helps to just run like 3-5 miles every other day and watch ur calories, and don't eat alot of fat

Also notice how a lot of Asians live longer than the average human does. It's definitely their diet. Notice how they're aren't too many fats foods in China.

i believe its the rice with every meal because it fills you up more with grain rather than eating too much of everything else

plus i think we eat a lot more vegetables and work a lot more
but due to a lot of what people eat in america, a lot of asians are staring to get fat because they've left their eating habits and eat stuff thats has a higher fat content than their bodies are used to

My secret,
eat. a lot :]

Rice every night. in moderation like the guy above me said. I got so used to it, i cant last a week without rice.

No secret to staying slim. Exercises more and eat less. By exercises I mean physically moving or working with your body. By eating less I mean less junk and more nutritious food.

maybe you can try eating at vietnamese restaurants and eat the dishes that has some vegetables. stay away from buffets & fast foods though, we dont eat there often.

things i dont eat: sour cream, mayonaise
things i eat seldomly: hot dogs, hamburgers, chips

things i eat: mostly soups or stir frys that has plenty of leafy veggies.

i drink lots of caffeine, engergy drinks, and i dont drink whole milk. i drink either skim, 1%, or 2%. i hardly ever finish my food/drink proportions.

McDonalds, Taco Bell, Burger King, Wendys, and Pizza Hutt are all American creations...not just Asians honey...the entire world is better looking than us.

We don't have fatty or oily foods like Mcdonalds.our diet is uasully fish,rice and vegtables,which is very unfattening.
