Of course it won't. Your "leaders" started it but there is no way in the world they will ever finish it. They opened a Pandora's Box that can never again be closed, and have destabilised the whole region in the process. Shame on them.

I have to sympathize with "Hellos" answer but, it isn't that hard to see, when we leave Iraq the Taliban will come in, in force. History will repeat itself like it did in Southeast Asia with Viet Nam, Thailand, etc.
Of course the Chinese had a big influence on it's counterparts through greed and some outlaw leaders like Pol That, now we have the Taliban leaders that will claim a victory over the West and make the Iraq pay dearly I'm afraid.
I'm just looking at the whole picture of what happen in the world over the last 75 years with these people, then the last 100 years or more, history is going to repeat itself.
We're not leaving equipment behind this time, like we did in Viet Nam, Korea, we're taking it with us, the logistics command knows the Taliban will make use of anything we leave so they're (U.S.) is going to strip the country and make sure nothing is left for their use.
They know what's going to happen too.

Probably because they now think staying won't end it either. Actually people don't think the war will end even if we leave. They just don't want our troops sacrificing their lives so Iraqi gov can slack off and go on month long vacation during this time of perpetual national emergency in Iraq.
No one knows for sure what will happen in Iraq when we leave. It's kind of hard to ask someone to go into battle field because of some expert's hunch. Or educated guess.
Biggest reason for withdrawal is for US troops. Everyone including US gov, Iraq gov have done absolutely worst job possible. Why should our troops pay for it with their lives when everybody around them is not doing their job?
Would you go to jail for your boss's crime? Would you take pay cut for someone else's fault?
The war has been incredibly unfair for US troops. They're pushing US troops by forcing them to go on extended tour duties, cutting short training, shortchanging them on supplies...etc. And is any law maker even brave enough to call for draft for little help?
Seems to me like US troops are the only ones who made real sacrifice in this.

Many in America care little about stabbing friends in the back. To their narrow minded way of thinking, if our troops are not there, there is no war. Besides that, if we cut and run now (it CANNOT be compared to a retreat where the intention is to preserve troops now to fight soon after), we'll have to come back to a far worse situation in a decade or so with the respect we have earned in the world long gone.

Because it'll be over for us.
We can leave the country at war now or wait ten years and then leave, same war will happen, we'll just be there another ten years and the war will continue on.
Maybe if they'd been smart enough to plan for the occupation to begin with.

I agree completely. They think that we will come back and all will be hunky dory. While in the meantime, Al queda will be growing in Iraq and plotting to attack us all over the world.
I dont think some people understand that this is a real war, a world war in a lot of ways. They think that this is a police action and we can come home and all will be fine. We can somehow make peace with the crazy murering marauders and sing koombyaaa with them.

The USA and Britain can't leave Iraq. They started the mayhem, now they have to stay. If they leave it will be a lack of resolve and the rest of the world will know it. That will do no good for their credibility around the world.
