is this what they mean when they say "even though I walk through the valley of death..."???

They weren't.
They thought they were doing "God's Work." It hasn't worked in 2,000 years, why they thought dropping themselves (women included!!!) into the middle of a War was the right thing to do is incomprehensible.
I'm sure they're like the guy who pulls right out in front of you when he's leaving church and just as you burn up your brake pads to avoid hitting him you see his bumper sticker which reads something to the effect of "Jesus is my Co-Pilot."
No offense, folks...
At least Danny Pearl (God Rest His Soul) was doing his job - and I guess these people think they were doing the right thing, too. (God help them...)

Like when they said what a caring, sensitive person Daniel Pearl was - well if so, what was he doing in one of the most dangerous places on earth?
