I read this awesome book called "God Debris" which basically said that God being all powerful decided that the only thing he could do (that could be a challenge) would be to destroy himself. He did and we are the end products of God destroying himself. So that we are part of God.
Interesting food for thought.

Indeed it would be nice if we were to fulfill a purpose, in biblical times it was populating the earth. Now that times have changed and we have done so and then some, wouldn't our purpose have to change? It seems to me that we have the power and the necessity to create and live up to pur new purpose.
