You're only option really is to go to the North Shore. Marblehead has a few nice beaches. They are all around 30 minutes from Saugus. . . .You could go up to Salisbury Beach, by taking Route 1 to 95, and it would be a little longer than 30 minutes (probably 40-50) but it's one of my favs.

Depends what you are looking for. Revere Beach is about 20 minutes, it has the famous Kelly's Roast Beef and a few pizza places if you want lunch. If you want to drive out to Swampscott or Marblehead which is a half hour drive you will get more family oriented beaches. Deveraux beach in Marblehead has a snack bar called Lime Rickey's as well as a playground for children. Swampscott has five beaches none of which are large or have any snack bars you pretty much rely on the ice cream man, hot dog vendor or pack a cooler.

Salisbury or Revere are the 2 that I am aware of. I don't know if they are 30 minutes from Saugus though.
