Yes, Don"Barny Fife" Knotts went to space first in THE RELUCTANT ASTRONAUT, then nearly a decade later, Sherriff Andy Taylor, a.k.a. ANDY GRIFFITH went to space to collect junk on the 1979 TV series SALVAGE!
So, both Andy Taylor and Barney Fife have gone into space...so do you think that ANDY GRIFFITH needs to return to space in a Space Shuttle to complete the cycle?

I'm glad that you ask. Because I have it on very good authority that (shhhh....don't tell anyone) NASA has already announced the crew for the first manned mission to Mars.

There is also a film documentary planned to cover the historical event. It will be produced by Opie and directed by Sam Jones.
