9/11 was planned on his watch so obviously he didn’t.

I see the Mad Dog Republicans outnumber the Raving Lunatic Democrats tonight.

Clinton kept us at peace. Bush likes to say there has not been another attack on US soil since 911 - SO WHAT ! Clinton could make the same claim for nine years. Bush has a long way to go just to equal Clinton.

Clinton did not send 3500+ US solders to die in a civil war that has become the poster child for terrorist recruiting. Bush did.

And all you revisionist who would like to blame Clinton for deflating the military. This was the great "peace dividend" you were all bragging about that your hero Regan brought by "winning" the cold war. And it was a Republican Congress that cut the budgets to the Military. The same Congress that likes to say they forced the balanced budget that led to a surplus in the later Clinton years. Many of your Republicans have written these very things in response to other questions this evening.

I was born and raised REPUBLICAN but George Bush is the worst thing that has ever happened to the party or the country. Thank GOD he can not run again.

Well, let's see...

He created a Muslim enclave in Yugoslavia that has become a magnet for jihadists - Kosovo...

He pulled troops out of the Somalia and left a huge political vacuum that was eventually filled up my jihadists... until Rumseld-trained Ethiopians booted them out...

He did nothing to Saddam Hussein to make him conform to several multilateral UN resolutions regarding the Iraqi invasion of Kuwait in 1990 UNTIL it suited him politically. On the day before he had to testify to the special prosecutor regarding the Lewinsky scandal, he finally fired missles at at Saddam Hussein... oh and get this... he fired missles at Saddam Hussein why? WHY? Because he was pursuing chemical, biological, and nuclear weapons... He did the right thing. He just didn't do enough of it.... and yet Hillary keeps telling us that W fooled her and tricked her to going into Iraq by talking about the weapons of mass destruction.... even though that was only 1 of 6 reasons that Bush went in there, but I digress... and was the exact reason as to why Clinton fired missles into Iraq, and Bush's information was assembled under Clinton's CIA.,,

He cut a bilateral deal with North Korea that the North Koreans started violating before the ink was dry. This is why W's discussions with North Korea have been multilateral... so'll they'll keep their word with regional powers that actually have more influence in the region....

Umm.. he did nothing to retaliate for the bombing of the USS Cole...

He did not take the terrorist threat seriously enough after the 1st attack on the World Trade Center in 1993.

His administration threw a wall up between the FBI and CIA that made it possible for them to collaborate when terrorist plots were discovered...

He allowed China to obtain satellite deployment technology that gave China the ability to fire ICBM's into our airspace by allowing the Department of Commerce to give China the authority to remove a satellite from a failed launch of one of their missles, that, frankly, we should not have been using....

To his credit, he did continue some of Bush's policies regarding Russia....

Well, for one thing, with Bill we didn't have a huge deficit! And then there is the fact that we now owe "Communist" (ooo, scary...) China billions!

He kept up our good image in the world until political "gamers" started prying into his PERSONAL life, while extolling their own personal "virtues" (which, we have now come to see, are about as solid as steam.)

By not engaging in ill-concieved wars.
By presiding over the longest economic growth this nation had seen since WW2.
By reducing goverment debt to foreign nations.
By having the respect of the all nations....

I'm not sure exactly what you are asking but I would say that one way he protected us was by maintaining friendly relations with other countries. The global hatred of America was not as prevalent during the Clinton administration. Just my humble opinion :-)

He stopped the huge defense dismantling initiated by the first G.Bush. He built strong allies world wide and made the US economically stable. DO YOUR REALLY FEEL SAFER TODAY UNDER BUSH/CHANEY? WHO HAVE GUTTED OUR NATIONAL RESOURCES FOR OIL PROFITS AND CREATED THOUSANDS OF DISABLED SOLDIERS!

He helped balance the budget, which was to help protect the US government from bankrupcy (granted that has gone out the window now).

The 911 attacks could have been avoided at large if Bill Clinton would have done something back the first time they were bombed.
