A staple gun is something I don't have and don't want to invest a lot of money in getting. I know there is a nail-in type of wire-to-wall retainer/holder but I don't know what it's called! I go to places like Target and spend a while trying to describe it! What is it called?

There are insulated staples and there are nail-in cable clamps.

Look around in the TV section and see if they have the clamps to hold you cable or antenna wire and look for tht kind of name on it. If Target doesn't have it try Home Depot.

Go to a hardware store or to home depot or some such place. Target is not going to do it. Tell them what kind of wire it is and what the wire does. That will determine the type of wire fastener you need. There are many kinds that stick on or nail on. Don't use a staple gun on any type of wire.

It's called Wire moulding. I believe Wiremold company makes it. ;0) Depending on how thick the wire is, if it's just one wire like a lamp cord, or coax (tv) cable, then the skinny stuff will work. It snaps closed and is self adhesive on the back. You can also buy corners, connectors and elbows to go around things. They make a 1 1/4" wide one as well, and with that size you can also buy surface mount electrical boxes if you can't run wire thru the wall. I believe that is also self adhesive.

Putting stapes in the wall will make A LOT of holes and if you dont' put enough, the wire may be buldging out in spots and look yucky. (and if you rent, the LL will not like it either)

You've obviously had a lot of hypocrites answering your question. These are the same folks calling Obama a muslim (in a negative respect) but at the same time want the war in Iraq to continue even though the US is over there protecting muslims. I was actually very curious how this trip would work out for Obama and I too am impressed. He has done something in just a few days that Bush hasn't been able to do in 7 1/2 years.

In most areas you can't do this, it's against the code. You have to enclose the wire, that means CDX, conduit or wire mold, something to enclose the wire, check with your building code office.
Stapling the wire to the wall will eventually create breaks in the wire and shorts from the pressure of the staples.

Please! Never use a staple-
gun to hold up a wire that will
have hot current thru it.
Go to Ace Hdwe, or another
larger home supply store and
ask for the channel that a wire
goes thru to attach to the wall.
You can cut to the size you
want. It covers the wire.
You can get colors also.
They will show you how to
attach it.

They would probably have more options for you, and be more knowledgable as well, at a home improvement store, like Home Depot or Lowe's.
