Honestly, what is it with people? Not only is it harder to understand some of the questions, but it just looks and sounds downright ignorant! I'm a lot more apt to answer a question when the words are spelled out fairly correctly. And in case you haven't noticed, above the space where you enter your question, there's this place that reads "Check Spelling". It's almost like magic! After you're done typing, hit that button, and just like that - it tells you what words are spelled incorrectly! What more could you ask for! So, say it with me, folks......"I will use the spell check feature before posting my questions!"

Much better!

I know alot of young people write like that,I guess they message people all day..and expect everyone to understand,I don't but I try...I'm afraid that language is becoming a thing of the past and they are going to have a sad wake up when they turn in a paper in college like that...it' may not be school...but it is life! no mispellings! yea!

I'm so glad you asked this question. I have wondered myself
whether some are being, "cute", or too lazy to complete a
sentence correctly, or maybe it's the younger sets' new mind
set to be part of a special group. Like it's 'cool' to not have
to write correctly. I had a friend from England loose interest
in staying in YA due to the people who did not know how to
spell, as he put it. He felt there was an uneducated 'lot' who
just didn't care to bother writing correctly. I think he's right.
So you feel like you are answering little kids half the time.
It's bad enough, that many questions reflect a childs mentality.
So one can only assume they are kids. Right?

I totally agree with you. I definitely won't answer questions asked by people who either can't spell (or check spelling) or abbreviate in some kind of slang so much, it's hard to understand. But, it's a public forum, so I guess I can't complain...just ignore those questions.

Laziness and often misspelling, we're not all perfect at typing you know!! I know that sometimes some people like to put in words like 'Ow r u doin?' but that's just plain ignorance on their part.

Great question. I believe the root cause to your dilemma is the fact that so many users of the Internet utilize text messaging and Instant Messaging (IM) that they forget what they are typing and the audience to whom they are typing.

People are just used to typing like that, I guess. I completely agree with your statement though. It does get confusing at times when people talk here like they do on aim. Sometimes, it's like impossible to understand.

Laziness as well as lack of respect -- for themselves, for the written language, and for us poor sots who have nothing better to do at 1 am than try to decipher their "secret code" to answer questions on Yahoo!answers. However, that is just my opinion.
