i accendentally formatted my hardisk knowing that it is the right drive... i have a lot of important files in that drive specially my thesis...

damn

Sorry, formating detetes and re-writes the master boot record, and every single sector on your hard disk, it is gone. That is why people back up there files.

You have a large problem.

Is it the boot drive, the drive with the operation system on it?

1st: do not add anything to the hard drive! Writing to the hard drive reduces your chance of recovering any of your data.

2nd: you need a way to start the computer with out reloading the OS.

To fix this will take some time, if you don't have the time or want to try the fix you may want to take it to a repair shop.

This may help.. Good luck. It isn't easy getting data back from a formatted drive. Just make sure you don't write to it or it'll make it harder to recover the data. If you can try and slave it to another computer and make an attempt to retrieve the data, that way you don't run the risk of overwriting the drive again. (Am I too late or did that already happen?)

After formatting it may be hard to recover files, depending on type of format.
