Yes, the road will get rougher before we get where we need to be.

I think that the bigots are actually becoming quieter. There are a few individuals that seem to make up the entire impression of the religions they represent but if you compare today to the past there are less radical situations. People are becoming more educated about subjects that are proclaimed sins and negative behavior and even if they disagree with the subject at hand they are more open to multiple lifestyles.

I think the Internet is giving bigots a podium they can vent from that wasn't available to them before, with a reach far greater than they ever experienced, and with the added incentive of complete anonymity. Just the same small minds, but with an electronically enhanced voice.

There are always going to be people who disagree with the best of things. We could have all people fed, clothed, everyone equal, jobs all round and someone would still be complaining about something.
What bothers me is the lengths people are willing to take to get their points across. Why resort to violence? That's simple Idiocy. It gets you heard for a brief time until you get your butt slammed in jail and then you're never heard from again. Most hate crimes are perpetuated by men. Why?
Can anyone answer me that? Why do they need to resort to violence?
Maybe I should just go and post that instead of rhetorically shouting to myself........

People are no longer afraid to not listen to them. Bigots have thier own demons to face and the more people choose to ignore or wish them well, the more they raise 'Holy Hell'.. they are backed into a corner and until they can come around, they will get louder and louder. It becomes 'YOU will listen to me." vs. "Gather round ya'll, listen to me."

People need to have someone to hate. A hundred years ago, it was the Chinese, before that it was Catholics. As society progresses, we need villains to blame our poor economy, poor grades, and general poverty on.
In fifty years, gays might be accepted, and some other minority will be vilified as the newest threat to our lifestyle.

They're losing and it makes them angry. Society realizes that bigotry and exclusion are not "family values" and the bigots are losing support and being viewed as radical and fringe elements of society. They don't like that.

I guess that's a fairly positive way of thinking about it.
It would make sense. Why would they feel the need to voice their opinions so loudly if they felt like everyone else agreed with them?

Actually, I think it's because these pathetic losers have nothing better to do with their summer vacation - other than to sit at home and spout off their senseless drivel...
Things will (hopefully) get better as September rolls around - where these losers go back to school, and have no life THERE instead ;););););)

You're absolutely right. They're a dying breed and they know it.
Heh. It's cute the way they'll get all scared and bombard us with the Dr. Doris' of the world, y'know?

I agree with you 100%. They just need to try and hold onto what they had... even though just a few people won't be able to hold back a society.
