Maybe its because the people of those "other" western democracies keep coming to America for their health care. The liberals need to learn capitalism is a good thing that can fix problems. Socializing things is the wrong way.

Well, there are those that would say it is creeping socialism or some such thing. However, some degree of social services has benefited other countries - particularly the POOR of those countries and if there is one thing that conservatives in this country ARE NOT in the business of helping, it's the poor.
They're not evil, they just listen to people like corporate CEO's who - while important have problems seeing past the next quarter's balance statement let alone consider the larger benefit to the nation as a whole.
I used to work for a small entrepreneur who's company fortunately grew as he aged, and while he was healthy he RAILED against socialism and communism and especially nationalized medicine.
His wife after 3 long years succumbed to cancer, after which time he was on personally financially shaky ground, with bills that insurance didn't cover, this caused all sorts of stress coupled with depression, after her death he started having heart problems and then a mild stroke (at 42) and is now permanently disabled.
The company closed its doors last year, the employees moved on, since he was the vibrant force of the company's fortunes, which followed his depression during his wife's illness, her death sent him over the edge and the company followed suit.
He's living at home now, having moved back in with his parents, and occasionally goes to the 250$/day rehab-facility when he gets his disability check.
So you're right no need for national health care or attention to mental health either.

The right wing opposes national health care (single payer) because it would cut out all the middle men (insurance) who get fat off the premiums of workers.
I will tell you this. Change will come when middle class workers cannot afford the costs of health insurance because their employers have passed too many costs onto them. When you reach that critical point, they will start demanding that the politicians do something about health care costs. Then you will see the uninsured finally get medical care, and the costs will come down.
But I don't blame the insurance companies for all the costs, although they clearly share some of the blame. But look at any job help wanted site and where do you see all the jobs? In the medical field. All those doctors, nurses, nurse aides, physical therapists, respiratory therapists, X ray technicians, etc. are being paid for by insurance premiums of workers, Medicaid and Medicare.

It is socialism! Why is that so hard to understand. They call it income redistribution. I want to continue to receive quality health care. I get to choose my doctor and he can get me and my family in pretty quick, not 3 months down the road. I picked an employer that offered good insurance. When are people going to quit depending on the government to take care of them. Be a man and take care of your responsibilities. There are socialist countries that are all ready run by a socialist government. Sounds like a good place for you people that dream of socialism, but don't ruin this great country we now live in. We are not every other western democracy. We are the United States of America.

Because it will drive up your taxes higher than your house payment, that is why. The right wing is not evil , by the way. Evil is the person or side that claims they are. If you think the people who are for the health care, have your best interest in mind, you need to do a lot more research on this subject.

It is not just the right wing, it is also any thinking American. Look at other government run programs for example. The DMV, schools, and social security just to name a few. Look at how poorly those programs are run and then the left wing wants us to trust the government with our health too? Even in countries that have national health care there are different levels of care depending on how rich you are. Also consider this, this program will not be free. It will be another tax on the people and one that will far outstrip the federal taxation we have now. Government is not the solution here, tort reform is.

Public healthcare is dreadfully inefficient. There is a published list in Canada of wait times for various medical procedures, and people can wait as long as 9 months for a routine MRI. The shortest wait times for more necessary procedures are still more than 2 months.
That is a significant reason to oppose public healthcare. Aside from the fact that a lack of competition can lead to a lack of excellence.

Because the idiot left has yet to come up with a way to fund such a thing without introducing some of the most repressive taxation since we split from the Brits.

The almighty dollar...lots of money for the chosen few. So much for the greatest country, we're right below Costa Rica now according to the latest poll by the World Healh Organization for health care provided...around number 17. Pretty awesome huh?

I am against being taxed EVEN MORE than we already are so that another inefficient government program can hand out crappy healthcare to the masses. Currently, if you want health insurance and can afford it, or have a job that pays for it, it is available. You can also choose not to have insurance. If you can't afford it, we already pay taxes to give you "free" medical attention.
We need to shrink our government, not bloat it more.
