Well, he's been playing the past 2 seasons just to try and break the HR record. He'll end this season about 30 hits shy of 3,000. So my guess is that he's going to play one more season.
It's highly unlikely that he'll play anywhere but SF, even if it means taking a huge paycut. Anybody that says he's going to DH in the AL, IMO just doesnt know Barry.

I'll bet that he signs for as low as $1mil on the Giants, before he goes to the AL as a DH. The Giants fans have been behind him no matter what. So, when he goes out, he's going out in a Giants uniform.

what team giants included would want bonds* with his broken down body, cannot play everyday, complains and rags all the time, and has a 400 lb gorilla following him around all the time??? no american league team, a's included would have any interest in bonds* because of the baggage.. who in their right mind would pay even the league minimum for a guy who isnt a pitcher that only plays every few days??? bonds* is kaput after 07. say good bye to your roid infested hero...hes the poster boy for whats troubling baseball anyway...

I think he'll be back in 2008 for four reasons.

1. He's stated as such.

2. He still wants a championship, and playing with even a small chance is better than retiring and having no chance.

3. 3000 hits is within his reach.

4. And he's got a small but decent chance at Henderson's runs scored record.

I think he will try to play until he gets 3000 hits in addition to the HR record, look for him to go to Oakland next year as a DH

I think he will be back next year he would miss the controversy. If he somehow doesn't break the record he will definately be back you know he will keep playing until he is 70 if he it is necessary to break the record. actually never mind he will be dead from steroid use and hgh before he is 70.
