Reagan ruined the US economy, cut and ran from Beruit, and lied about illegally selling arms to Iran. Is my memory bad?

Oh, they also were never made aware of the litany of Civil Wars and unrest in the USSR along with their bad fiscal policies which forced them to collaspe.

You forgot about Iraq and bin Laden. But it's not just them, there's a lot of people out there that loved Reagan, despite what he did or did not do. And it isn't just conservatives I'm sorry to say.

OMG, where were you people?

1981, deficit was close to $80 billion

1983, deficit was close to $200 billion

Low income housing was slashed, $31 billlion in 1981, to $7 billion in 1987

First year he uttered the word AIDS? 1987

And Reagan did not single handedly bring down Communism and the USSR.

And I hate to tell you this, but unemployment rates were up higher with Ford and Reagan then with Carter. Proof? Go read your Department of labor statistics.

So I ask again, where were you guys in all of this?

When Reagan was Gov of California. He opened the doors to the state mental health hospitals and pretty much told everyone so sorry you have to go now. Other states thought this was great and followed. Today we have a horrible mental health system. many of the homeless are the mentally ill and veterans that need the help. So the pharmaceuticals step up the psyche meds. Some of the worse meds out there. And I disagree vehemently about the economy being great when he was president.

There has been no rewrite. We lived it. Your recollection is fading. It's no wonder our youngsters have no sense of history. Go back and read a credible source rather than another left leaning web site. Economists believe Reagan's economics, although not perfect, is what started the current economic recovery. You can not tax your way to prosperity. A 70% tax burden stiffles economies. That is what he dealt with.

"We stand together as we did two centuries ago…
One people under God determined that
our future shall be worthy of our past."
President Ronald Reagan, Jan. 21, 1985

“Whatever else history may say about me when I’m gone, I hope it will record that I appealed to your best hopes, not your worst fears, to your confidence rather than your doubts. My dream is that you will travel the road ahead with liberty’s lamp guiding your steps and opportunity’s arm steadying your way. My fondest hope for each one of you—and especially for the young people here—is that you will love your country, not for her power or wealth, but for her selflessness and her idealism. May each of you have the heart to conceive, the understanding to direct, and the hand to execute works that will make the world a little better for your having been here. May all of you as Americans never forget your heroic origins, never fail to seek divine guidance and never lose your natural, God-given optimism. And finally, my fellow Americans, may every dawn be a great new beginning for America and every evening bring us closer to that shining city upon a hill.” Ronald Reagan (1992)

God bless Ronald Reagan, and man of true dignity and Honor to our Nation!!

Yep - I especially like the "ketchup is a vegetable" deal, and turning the institutionally insane people from being taken care of to having to hold "will work for food" signs to survive.

Thats funny. Reagan inherited the Carter economy and turned it around so well and people were making so much money there were jokes about it. We actually rode that economy right on through the 90s. Until Clinton got ahold of it.
