But he did hit most of his Home Runs on Steroids.

Bonds did not hit most of his homers on steroids, he was allegedly on steroids from 1999-2002, and his carreer started in 1986. But, the general train of thought is that, since he was averaging 32 homers-per-season before the alleged steroid use, he would be hitting number 655 instead of 755. Seeing as how 655 is a colossal number anyway, there is no reason Bond's shouldn't be in the Hall.

It wouldn't affect his chances of going to the Hall of Fame by breaking the record. Getting 2 more HR's doesn't make him a better player, he's already proven that he is the most dangerous and most feared hitter ever, and the best home run hitter. Ruth was definitely more impressive though, because when he played he ended up with seasons where he hit more home runs than some entire teams. But regardless, Bonds was a Hall of Famer even before he hit 500 HR. 756 won't change voter's opinions.

Even though I don't like him that much, I think that Barry Bonds should and will go to the Hall of Fame. He may have taken steroids, but it's possible that the majority of his home runs were hit without help. Also, steroids help with power, and they don't necessarily make you hit home runs. He was a great fielder and stealer, and steroids don't have much effect with that. I do think that his apparent use of steroids is very bad and one f the most negative effects on sports and baseball as we know it.

He has to get in, he was a shoe in at 500 HRs. If he doesn't get in because he was ACCUSED of taking steroids, that would be the real issue. MLB's steroid policy may be a joke, but it's still their policy. If they deny Bonds his Hall of Fame credentials after passing every one of their drug tests, then their admitting that their drug policy is crap.

A few more homers will not matter.

In the five years from retirement to the first year his name will appear on the ballot, the evidence around his drug use will come to light and his chance to go into the hall will go up in smoke. It will be a sad but fitting end for another misguided, yet talented soul.

Barry acts like he knows this already. Maybe he is saving all his own memorabilia for his own personal Hall.

I'd say that only 1% of his HR's were hit while he took steroids and HGH (Legally, because they were not banned or made illegal by MLB, and were prescribed medications for Barry), so proof is that those two drugs did not have any effect on his performance in passing up the single season HR record.

He definitely deserves to get inducted in his 1st ballot of eligibility.

yes, i think he should...
he was a hall of famer even before he got "big"
the rest is just gravy...

let's also note that they have drug testing in the major leagues...ask darryl strawberry...
bonds has never tested positive or been suspended for failing a drug test...
for every claim of information saying that he has taken steroids, there is another person who claims that the information is false...
personally, if he goes through his career without failing a drug test, i don't think that mlb can possibly treat him any different than ted williams...
bonds will be in the hall of fame on the first ballot
he is probably the best baseball player of all time
steroids don't give you all around talent...they just make you strong.

They should have separate section for the steroid users. mcguire, jose, etc. and this points up what a rotten way they treated pete rose. he deserved better, they deserve worse. best thing is bulldoze the hall of fame and not have one. just get rid of all history. erase it because we know for damn certain it is all a tangle of lies and rumors with a few truths and not reliable. just like camelot. once there was a time when etc. it is over jack! bonds finishes all that tonight, probably. jerk. the owners and the management really have screwed up just like the lakers screwed up with kobe. sick crap in all those sports basketball, baseball and football are never gonna be honest. dirty sports like boxing is famous for. fake stuff like wwf. all bs. and the big hit tonight will be the beginning of the end. gone an smak it bonds. break that record. the real record.

First off, he's in the hall of fame regardless. Secondly, he would have hit most of those home runs anyways, you can never tell, also he wont go in the HoF just for power hitting, but hes also a great fielder and used to be sick at stealing

Bonds was a Hall-class player years ago. Taking the home run record is just another star (a bright one, yes) in his personal galaxy.
