i just learned this last year in school......what ever number u put in (X) it will change the number of the (Y)........like-
18=2(4)+10
26=2(8)+10
20=2(5)+10
and so on......

y = 2x + 10 is an equation to a straight line which has points
A(0, 10), B(5, 20) and C(-5, 0) on it given by
x = 0, 5, -5 then
y= 2x + 10 Or y = 10, 20, 0.

You can't solve for two variables with only one equation. I'm guessing you left out part of the question. Maybe they were asking for the slope, or y-intercept?
In which case, slope = 2, y-intercept = 10, based on the general form y=mx+b, where m is the slope, and b is the y-intercept.

x can have any value from -infinity to +infinity. The equation you gave defines a straight line and without any further information, like the value of y, all you can say is that x can take on any real value.
