OF COURSE THE YANKEES ARE MAKING THE PLAYOFFS!! And Arod will remain a Yankee, he's been doing really well, and i don't see him doing this well anywhere else. LETS GO YANKEES!!
P.S. They tied their club record for home runs.

Probably not.
Franchise Record for most home runs in one game.......ok pretty cool to see but I don't see how this lands them a spot in the playoffs.
16 runs in one game.........Happens all the time, not to mention the 20-18 game that happened a couple of weeks ago. Team scores 18 and still loses.
3 games out of the Wild Card............there are still 50 some games left in the season. A LOT CAN HAPPEN. I'm not saying the Stanks...sorry Yanks can't have a better second half but the way Seattle and Cleveland have been playing. I don't see it happening. They have continuously struggled throughout the season and just because they play good for a couple of games and get a little bit of a streak going doesn't mean it's going to last for sure.
7 games behind the Red Sox....... Do you know how hard it is to turn a 7 game defecit around???? Especially when your 7 games behind the RED SOX!!! Without a doubt the best bullpen in baseball now with the acquisition of Eric Gagne. The Curse would have to basically restart for the Yankees to come out on top in the East. That's just my opinion Go Tigers

A 3 game deficit to two teams with ZERO stretch-run experience is nothing. Sorry Tribe and M's but you don't have the power of the "evil empire" and pitching will only get you so far. That gap was 7 games just a week ago. I'm a huge fan but I don't see the Yanks catching Boston until they're down 3 games to 0 in the ALCS. Then the Bombers win 4 straight, renew the curse, and sweep the "senior circuit's" whipping boys (Mets, Braves, Brewers? Please...) in the world series. 27 in '07...bank on it.

Contreras was pitching, not too big of a surprise there. I like the Yankees even though they are killing my White Sox. Hope they do make the playoffs. I will root for them all the way.

If the BoSox completely get destroyed down the stretch, otherwise, no, plus, dont be bragging about the yankees scoring 16 runs in a game and setting a record for home runs against the white sox, the twins played a day night doubleheader against the white sox and scored 20 and 12 runs

Either the Tigers or the Indians are better. The Yanks are not a balanced team. Rotation is mediocre at best, pen is overtaxed and weak, defensively they are suspect. Only area where the Yankees are nearly fully loaded is their bats, line-up. I'm just going by my memory here but usually the most balanced teams make the playoffs - and especially the wild card. Look at last year Tigers, the year before that- sox, the year before that - sox etc. You could look at the NL too and see the same pattern.
Historically they have a lot going against them and just playing the percentages, in my head, I would have to say no.
My gut tells me otherwise.

at this point I don't see them making the playoffs. The real test will come in Aug when they 17 out of 20 games against The Red Sox, Angels, Tigers and Indians.

they need to start winning more games. they need to go like 17 - 4 in august to really take a good leap up in the standings. the red soxs are getting injured now.
