i currently have 3 other empty pci slots on my tower, i have one 256mb nvidia geforce fx 5200 installed in, if i buy another 256mb nvidia geforce fx 5200 graphics card and install it into one of the other available slots would my graphics card then be 512MBs and make my games run even smoother or would that 256mb not really make a difference?

thanks in advance for any help.

No, adding a 2nd pci card would simply allow you to hook up additional monitors to the new video card, but they wouldn't operate as a single card or increase the speed of your existing FX5200.

SLI is a technology that allows you to combine two identical Nvidia cards for greater performance, but that's a feature of the higher-end PCI-express interface, not old PCI.

Motherboards which support SLI actually have 2 PCI-E video slots.

pcie wont in positive condition into pci slot. they are diverse actual format. you're able to get a pci card tho, yet why? - they are particularly previous technologies. Are you constructive you dont have the two agp ot pcie? - agp grew to become into the prevalent from 1997/ninety 8 till pcie got here alongside. Is it a private laptop? what's the motherboard - positioned up information and ask question returned and somebody will inform you what card u can positioned into it.

No, it would not help. You would need to get a single faster card. Some cards called "SLI" will allow them to work together, but a 5200 does not have that technology, as far as I know.
