I will kill my enemy first before I kill myself.

I used to think everyone at one time or another contemplated suicide. I did a few times. I had times I did not want to live but did not want to die , but thought dying would be the easy way out. I was to afraid to kill myself and thought how foolish I would look if people knew I did myself in. I used drink and use drugs to cover those feelings. I used to hope I would overdose and I would not have to worry any more. I used to do crazy gang activities where I thought I would go out in a blaze of glory . But for some reason I am still here. I found the rooms of recovery A.A. etc. and worked the 12 steps and now do not need drugs or alcohol and no longer have thoughts of killing myself. Gods Grace is great.God Bless and keep the faith.

Millions of people know what suicide victims (if victims is the right word) are thinking. Many people contemplate the idea without ever following through.

It is possible to study in psychology but the most intimate way to understand is from those who have been there. It's a feeling that there is no hope, helplessness, or despair and the only way out that makes sense is suicide. It's like being in a dark hole with no light. The reasoning for those feelings varies but most describe these similar feelings. It requires alot of help to get through it, you don't just snap out of it.

"dad" and Ken Baldwin have great answers. As a mental health professional with 20+ years experience, now retired, I can tell you that I've worked with suicidal people for a long time, but I can tell you that only people who actually have those feelings truly know what suicidal people are feeling, and a lot more people have suicidal thoughts, sometimes repeatedly throughout their lives, than are willing to admit it or talk about it, myself included. And the huge percentage of individuals who have those thoughts never actually go through with the suicidal plans, myself included (obviously). But, one final thought here, as a mental health professional with two decades experience, I can tell you that, as I began my practice, one psychiatrist I worked with seriously stressed being able to determine suicidal peoples' thoughts and plans and doing everything we could do to prevent the suicide attempt, and then, after almost 10 to 12 years of working with him, he finally admitted that no matter how much we know about suicidal thoughts and feelings, if a person REALLY wants to commit suicide, there's really not anything we can do to prevent it. I'm so glad he finally came to that understanding. It allowed us to work with suicidal people without being seriously anxious about whether we could or could not save them from their suicidal thoughts, and thereby we could do better work. But, returning to your question, no one but a suicidal person actually knows what a suicidal person feels, beyond technical, diagnostic criteria. And that's not as helpful as the American Psychiatric Association would like us to believe it is. God Bless you.

From what I seen and heard I think there are 3 types of suicidal people.

1. People who crave attention that they never had so they believe if they died than everyone will pay attention to them.

2. People who are depressed because they think they're life is hell and it hurts to live. They think life is too hard and they can't make it.

3. People who see the world for what it is and are sick and tired of it, these people aren't depressed, they are just jaded and don't see the point in living anymore.

I honestly KNOW what they are feeling. I've been there and got so close to suceeding so many times. I'm lucky I'm alive to tell you my answer. They feel like the world is against them and that there is NO hope whatsoever in the world. Life has to be really bad if you want to take your own life away.

I'm pretty sure i do since i read my uncles note when he comitted suicide on Christmas Eve. So yes i do THINK i understand it. I feel that your question was realatively sarcastic and if you had experienced a suicide in your family you would understand.

I think, after the first time I tried to off myself, I figured I know pretty well what it felt like. Then again, I also know that, especially when you are depressed, you don't want to think anyone knows how you feel. You want to think you are the only one until you really truly realize you're not.

The ones that have been rescued from suicide attempts probably know pretty well. (I.E. me) why do you ask?
